During the 1950's and 1960's in the United States of America, black people were suffering under laws of segregation. These laws were called "Jim Crow Laws"
The Greensboro sit in happened during the Civil Rights Movement (1955-68) when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wanted to do peaceful and non-violent protest against racism. On February 1st of 1960, four African American college students from North Carolina went to ask a white restaurant in Woolworth's to get service and food, and their request was denied . They sat in the front counter asked for food and the workers continued to refuse to serve them, they asked them to leave and the four men did not listen.
